Whiterock Session Thirty-Nine

Page history last edited by Capellan 12 years, 8 months ago

Returning to the soldier's hunting hide, the group encounters Eric Vanderheim.  Eric is the third son of a powerful noble in the kingdom's capital city.  He's decided to leave the capital for a while, since if he stayed, he might have to kill an angry brother or husband.  Originally, he'd planned to visit with his distant cousin, Lord Eldoran, but when he heard about the giant raids, he thought that sounded more interesting.

The group welcomes the addition of an extra sword, and heads out once more, after pausing only briefly to discuss Zook's continuing spider-themed oddness (quite distinct from his own everyday innate oddness).

This time, the search for the giants goes much better, as the group finds a cave system populated largely by giantkin.  They overcome two hill giant door guards, and a pack of ogres (led by a Cyclops) who are crafting weapons in large numbers.  It seems the giants are preparing for war.

Eschewing a scary downward slope, the group instead descends another, somehow more inviting downward slope and finds a stockade containing eight slaves (six human, two half-elven).  All are female, and one is pregnant.  Questioning the slaves, the group learns two things:

1.  there is a cell at the bottom of the other slope, containing a prisoner

2.  the leader of this group of giants is a powerful ogre named Jaagrath.

The group, for reasons known only to themselves, decides to go pick a fight with the big bad, rather than talk to the prisoner.
