Whiterock Adversaries

Page history last edited by Capellan 12 years, 9 months ago

Bratand Ost

The head of the thieves' guild in Cillamar.  Appears to be a wiry human male, probably in his 50s.  While the group's meeting with him was (mostly) civil, Bratand made it clear that he will brook no further intervention into affairs in the Warrens, including the matter of the refugees, unless his permission is requested and given, in advance.  Sooner or later, that's likely to lead to conflict.

Derro

These evil, mutated dwarves were encountered in the company of the cult of the Outer Gods, though they did not seem inclined to fight alongside the cultists.  Known to often work servitors of even more debased dwarves known as Duergar, the purpose of the Derro's presence amidst the cult is unknown.  They are, however, known for their racial propensity to mental disorders, so pursuing a reasoned explanation may be futile.  According to Dwarven and Duergar legend, the Derro are the descendants of those clans which lacked the courage to choose sides between the mole-like god of greed, Norgrull, and his adversary, Mother Kadirik.

Drugilla (deceased)

Leader of the White Roc Orcs, a female cleric who stood nine feet tall and had blue-tinged skin.  Her strength and powers proved a formidable challenge for the group, but she was eventually overcome.

Duergar

These evil dwarves appear to have a thriving community under Castle Whiterock.  According to Dwarven legend, the Duergar were corrupted by the lies of Norgrull the Mole-God.  The Duergar, by contrast, believe themselves to be the chosen race, destined to command all the riches of the world.  They are racist and xenophobic, though generally in a condescending and sneering manner rather than a genocidal one.

Lord Eldoran

The group has circumstantial evidence (a letter with a smudged seal that looks like Eldoran's) that this noble was behind the curse at Morrick Mansion.

Gaeran Harwood (deceased)

The village carpenter in Beeton, he had allowed his insane jealousy of Will Dunraith to tempt him into the worship of strange powers known as "the Outer Gods".  Executed for his crimes against the village.

Grulag-Dur

A powerful three-armed giant, from whom the heroes rescued about a hundred and fifty fey creatures.  They never encountered the giant himself, just his minions, but it's likely that he would not be friendly with the party if he learned who they were!

(The) Impressario

The heroes were told of this figure - who runs a gladiatorial arena deep in the mountain - but have yet to encounter him.  The Impressario is a chief lieutenant of "The Thane", who presumably leads the duergar in these parts.

Mahk (deceased)

Known only through a letter she sent to Gaeran, this woman, apparently based in Cillamar, is Gaeran's superior in the service of the Outer Gods.  She, in turn, appears to be the minion of someone named Tsathar Rho.

Melchin

A polite fellow, but a member of the Order of the Waxing Moon; rivals to the Dawning Sun (from whose teachings Mei Ling's training originates).  After bring defeated in single combat by Mei Ling, he answered the group's questions about Castle Whiterock and then left peaceably.

Quagmire

A villainous bugbear brigand.  The heroes felt the sting of his arrows when he abducted Leah Redoak, though they ultimately destroyed his master, Ruinheart (whom Quagmire seemed to be serving under duress).  Quagmire fled as soon as Ruinheart was defeated, and is still at large.

Ruinheart (deceased)

A massive, sentient tree that was corrupted by the curse laid on Morrick's Mansion.  Attempted to abduct Leah Redoak, in order to force her into its service, but was destroyed by the heroes.

Skeezer

A ratspawn fey shaman, in the employ of Grulag-Dur.  He escaped from battle with the heroes, and is presumably still at large in the fey realms.

Skurge (deceased)

A deranged, mutated kobold who lived in the Black Stump, site of group's first adventure.  He had created a potent poison called 'blood bite'.  The group killed him after a difficult battle.

Tsathar Rho

An evil cultist who impersonated a priest of Denithae.  Location unknown, but probably within Cillamar.  Currently undergoing a 'transformation' according to a letter the group found.

Unnamed Spellcaster (deceased)

A mutated cultist, with a swollen eye, red scales, and small horn on his forehead.  Possesses the ability to hurl fire, and to unless a blast of many-coloured light that overwhelms its targets, potentially knocking them out.  He was swept down a subterranean river, and his partially eaten corpse was found washed up some distance downstream.
